One Happy People

Bastimentos is populated mainly by Afro-Caribbeans with ancestors in the Caribbean islands (Jamaica, San Andres, Martinique, etc.).

The community is reached by sea and the most common means of transport is the use of marine taxis (boats with outboard). In addition, many of the residents of this community have at least one boat of this type.

There are no streets, just a wide concrete sidewalk, parallel with the sea, from one end to the other of the town, providing an excellent place for locals and visitors walk.

People of Bastimentos Town has a wide range of occupations, from fishing to tourism entrepreneurs, through farm and employment in shops and offices of Bocas del Toro (only 5 minutes away by boat).
